Tuesday's Tip (MONEY SAVERS)

Here are some great ways to save ourselves some money.
For today - this economy the way it is, saving a few dollars is essential. So I've listed a few ways to help us save some money.

•Convert to a gas water heater. They are more efficient and will save you money in the long run.

•Send away for and follow up on rebates. After you buy a product with a rebate, send in the form that day. Then mark your calendar to remind yourself to follow up with the rebate company if the check hasn’t show up

•Get rid of Private Mortgage Insurance. If your down payment was less than 20%, you are probably paying PMI. Once you have a 20% cushion through reducing your debt and home appreciation (yes, prices do go up from time to time), contact your mortgage company to start the process of removing the PMI.

•Start using coupons. This is a great way to save some money. Some stores will allow you to use a store coupon along with a manufactors coupon so you're able to save even more on a product.

•Get books and DVD'S from your local library. They always have a great selection, and you will save a lot of money this way.

•A most obvious one is to not use credit cards. Pay by check , check card or cash. Credit cards are okay if only used in emergency situations or if used and payed off to avoid any fees and interest.

•Rid yourself of your regular light bulbs and use LED light bulbs and night lights instead. This saves significant money in the long run.

•As much as possible use the washing machine on cool/cold water cycles (cutting back on electricity the hot water tank uses) & always whenever possible use a clothes line and hang those clothes out to dry. (what a way for a really fresh load of clothes)

•Take packed lunches to work. spending 5-10 dollars a day on eating out, really adds up.

•For gifts on any occassion try making the gifts and also cut back on what you give. I found that those getting the gifts are happy that you gave them something (that you remembered them), so it doesn't have to cost a fortune or be more than 1 item , and I've also found that people love the handmade gifts as they know you took time to make them something  special with your own 2 hands.
