Age Appropriate Chore List

Here is a generalized chore list for children ranging from ages 2 to 15. Older children will have other chores they can do like babysitting, helping smaller children with homework or chores, if close to town a small grocery run etc... Let us know what it is you have you children do. We could add it to a future list.



2-4 years old

• help dust
• put napkins on table
• put away toys
• put laundry in hamper
• feed and water pets

4-7 years old

• set the table 
• put away toys
• help feed pets
• water plants
• help make bed
• help put dishes in dishwasher
• water the garden
• help with yard work 
• clear table
• put away groceries

8-10 years old

• make bed
• water plants
• clean room 
• vacuum
• feed pets 
• help make dinner
• put with laundry 
• help wash the car
• help wash dishes
• load dishwasher
• rake leaves
• take out the trash

11 years and older

• take garbage out
• clean room 
• put away groceries
• clean the bathroom 
• clean the kitchen
• vacuum
• mow lawn
• help with laundry 
• help make dinner
• wash car
• make bed
• help with yard work
• shovel snow
• load dishwasher
