Chocolate mayonaise cake w/ Chocolate sour cream Frosting

This is a wonderful cake.
My mother and grandmother made this cake all the time. We kids loved it.
Well I make it for my kids as well and they in turn just love this cake. So I thought I'd share the recipe with all of you, and hope you enjoy it as much as my family has , down throughout the years.

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups water
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Lightly grease two 9 inch layer pans.
2.Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa, and sugar into a large bowl. Stir in mayonnaise. Gradually add water and vanilla and blend until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pans.
3.Bake at 350 degrees F  for 30 minutes. Cool, remove from pans, and frost with your favorite chocolate frosting.

This is a great frosting for this cake
Chocolate sour cream frosting
•1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
•1/2 cup sour cream
•1 teaspoon vanilla
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•2 1/2 to 2 3/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Melt chocolate chips with butter in top of double boiler over hot water. Remove from hot water; stir in sour cream, vanilla, and salt. Slowly beat in confectioners' sugar until desired spreading consistency is reached. Makes enough chocolate sour cream frosting for a tube or bundt cake or 2-layer cake.
